CLASS OF
Principal, Pentucket Regional Middle School
West Newbury, Massachusetts
An anti-bullying advocate and middle school principal, Lay recently was honored by the Anti-Defamation League New England for her peer trainer program at Pentucket.
STANDING STRONG
Students at the middle school age are ever-changing, and they are at the most impressionable stage of their lives. We owe it to them to educate them consistently and throughout the middle school and district using the same vocabulary and same message about bullying.
THE POWER OF EDUCATION
I believe bias, prejudice and intolerance all stem from ignorance. Education is the key to unlocking tolerance and diversity.
INDIVIDUAL IMPACT
For me, that one teacher who will speak to a student who is doing something wrong or go the distance for a student who is in need of their assistance … is what it’s all about for students. The power of one is enduring.
GREATEST SATISFACTION
Realizing our ability as educators to transform student thinking and to be a catalyst for future interests. It’s what makes me come back each day.
