LouisianaLafayetteMary M. Morrison, Bachelor of Science in Business with a Concentration in Administration (BSB/A) ’04, was selected to serve as a parade marshal for Lafayette’s 54th annual Mardi Gras parade honoring King Toussaint L’Ouverture LIV in February. A resident of the area for 30 years, Morrison lives in the Lafayette suburb of Scott with her husband (Mayor Purvis Morrison) and their three children. She is currently employed at Acadiana Technical College, where she is the academic chair of human and support services as well as the workplace literacy and business instructor. In addition to her numerous accomplishments and community roles, Morrison is a Eucharistic minister at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Scott, and a former District 1 councilwoman. She was the first black female to serve in this capacity, representing more than 20,000 people. MassachusettsNewburyportKathleen Ives, Doctor of Management (DM) ’04, was named chief operating officer of the Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) in February. In her former role as associate director, Dr. Ives directed the launch of Sloan-C’s workshops as well as other certificate programs and Sloan-C initiatives, including the establishment of the Sloan-C Institute. Ives, who has extensive management and marketing experience, previously served as executive vice president and COO of The Kelsey Group market research and consulting firm and was managing director of electronic services at Verizon. |
New MexicoAlbuquerqueCarolyn Ortega, Bachelor of Science in Business with a Concentration in Accounting (BSB/ACC) ’01, was recently named the 2012 winner in the not-for-profit category of the annual Women of Influence event, held by New Mexico Business Weekly. Women of Influence spotlights women leaders in the state’s industries, professions and organizations, and women who excel in the areas of business and community. Ortega is the chief financial and operations officer at Atrisco Companies and Atrisco Heritage Foundation in Albuquerque. Prior to her role at Atrisco, she was a senior accountant at GAP Inc. and a senior auditor at KPMG. She serves on various boards, is an active member of several community service organizations and was recently named to the Board of the National Hispanic Cultural Center by New Mexico Governor Susanna Martinez. Ortega has also been acknowledged as a “Woman Pioneering the Future” by Congresswoman Heather Wilson. TexasAustinJeffrey J. Wittig, Master of Business Administration (MBA) ’05, has been named Fire Chief of the Travis County Emergency Services District #3/Oak Hill Fire Department, located on the southwest side of Austin. Having served as the assistant fire chief for the past five years, Chief Wittig now heads the department of 30 firefighters and is responsible for emergency service, response and prevention over the 42-square-mile area. |

RoshomoLeslie N. Smith, Bachelor of Science in Business with a Concentration in Administration (BSB/A) ’12, was promoted to passport specialist with National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) within two weeks of receiving her degree. Formerly a secretary for NASA, Smith continues to assist in the company’s mission to drive advances in science, technology and exploration to enhance knowledge, education, innovation, economic vitality and stewardship of the Earth.
WashingtonKirklandTim McCafferty, Master of Business Administration (MBA) ’05, was recently hired as the Pest Control Operator (PCO) operations manager for Cascade Pest Control. McCafferty started his pest control career with Terminix in Florida 2003 and later transferred to the Pueblo, Colorado, branch where he dramatically increased sales and customer retention. Following his notable career in management with Terminix, he was recruited to launch Radar Pest Management in Kirkland, Washington, in early 2011. McCafferty says he looks forward to being involved with guiding the quality of service Cascade’s customers receive through their team of technicians. |
