After 12 years at University of Phoenix, I’ve discovered that everyone at the University shares a passion for learning. It doesn’t matter if you’re a student, alumnus, instructor or staff member. We’re all drawn to this school for the same reason.

This passion for learning has played out in my own life, first through my UOPX MBA program, and later when I became a faculty member myself, which brought me satisfaction on a whole new level. Today, as the new executive director of Alumni Relations, I’m excited to be part of a group that has the privilege of supporting you in your pursuit of continuous learning and success. To find out more about my plans for the association, click here.

This August issue of Phoenix Focus takes on the topic of education that is so near to our hearts. In “Feed your curiosity,” we explore how indulging in a lifetime of curiosity can actually keep our brains healthy as we age. You’ll also meet alumna Debra Lay, EdD ’10, a principal in Massachusetts who is facing bullying head-on at her school, and alumnus Kevin Beiser, MAEd/TED-S ’05, whose unstoppable drive has helped turn around an underperforming school in the San Diego area.

Whether it is learning a new skill or even using mobile apps that can make you smarter, always stay curious.
