| New provost announced University of Phoenix announced Dr. Alan Drimmer has been named Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs and Provost of the University, effective May 2, 2011. Dr. Drimmer will report to Dr. Bill Pepicello, President of University of Phoenix. Dr. Drimmer brings a wealth of academic leadership experience to University of Phoenix. Most recently, he served as President of Western International University (WIU), a position he held since 2009. Prior to WIU, Dr. Drimmer served as Chief Executive Officer of American Intercontinental University (AIU) and President of AIU Online. “We are most fortunate to have Alan join the University’s academic leadership team,” said Dr. Pepicello. “Throughout his career, Alan has shown a true commitment to academic rigor, financial discipline and, most importantly, to consistent student success.” Previously in his career, Dr. Drimmer held leadership roles with Cardean University, Cornell University’s eCornell subsidiary and the Corporate Executive Board’s Learning and Development Roundtable. He also served as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, an official at the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control and a diplomat at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan. Dr. Drimmer earned his doctorate, master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Chicago. |

Denver opens nursing simulation lab In March, University of Phoenix unveiled a state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab at its Centennial Campus, complete with a simulated hospital room with multiple beds, a procedure room and a “SIM Man 3G” manikin patient that can cry, talk, sweat, cough and breathe. The manikin is programmed with dozens of nursing scenarios to educate students. This full-immersion learning environment is the latest innovation in nursing education, allowing students to practice responses to life-threatening situations in a risk-free environment. |
